(More customer reviews)I was so excited to have found the Confetti Angel Food Cake Mix here at Amazon as they don't sell it in the stores here --Until I discovered that included in the list of ingredients is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (just like in most shampoo)! I guess it's the 'fluffing agent.' On the plain white Angel Food Cake Mix, they call it 'Sodium Lauryl Flavor.' If you aren't familiar with this additive, you might want to Google 'Sodium Lauryl Sulfate' before deciding if you would really want to eat this or not...

It is easy to add other ingredients such as poppy seeds or dried fruit to make flavored pound cakes. This mix is not overly sweet and cakes come out a bit dryer than some. All in all, it makes a pretty decent basic cake

I haven't tried to make it homemade, but looking at the recipes I see that you need 12 egg whites... which would be tedious and expensive. Why waste time and money when the cake mix does the job? Amazon has this at a great price too, I think one box is about $2 at the stores where I live.

(More customer reviews)While not the same as a homemade carrot cake, this mix will make an acceptable substitute. It reminded us of carrot cake and a bit like a spice cake. Mildly spiced with an acceptable taste. The box cake did not taste quite as moist as a homemade carrot cake but it was good.
I frosted the box carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and most everyone enjoyed eating it.
Recommend.

You can find the recipe for that cake on the BC website. It used to be on the back of the box, but I think they replaced it with something else. It is by far my personal favorite and my family's too. In fact, I just used these mixes to make my son's wedding cake! Their other flavors of "vanilla mixes" like french vanilla are excellent too, but this is THE best! Unfortunately, none of the stores in my area carry it, so I was thrilled to find that I could order it through amazon.com! I have even emailed Betty Crocker and told them I hope they never stop making this one!

This came out perfect--it is still really moist after storing it in the fridge for a few days. You do have to add a stick of butter so it's not good for the health-conscious, but if you want a really moist, sweet cake in a basic yellow cake recipe, this is definitely it! (More customer reviews)My absolute favorite is German Chocolate Cake but I've found it to be a mix that can often turn out dry. That is not what I want in a cake. My sister-in-law substituted chocolate cake mix last summer and that is our new tradition.
This mix is my family's favorite because it is just what it says... SUPER MOIST. The rich chocolate flavor compliments my Grandmother's recipe for homemade buttery, pecan and coconut frosting. Add a thin layer of warm frosting to the cake layers and let it soak in deep. Once the frosting is cooled, frost as usual. I make a three layer cake in a heart shaped pan then display it in a glass domed cake plate. This cake is warm, soft and delicious served the same day and even more flavorful the next day.
The kids love the cake mix when you add chocolate chips and make cupcakes. Vanilla frosting and sprinkles top off their favorite.
More recently I used it to make a chocolate gooey butter cake. Made the recipe as written but substituted chocolate cake mix for the yellow cake mix the recipe called for and added mini semi-sweet chocolate chips to the cream cheese topping. Rich and decadent. Yum.

(More customer reviews)This is my favorite cake and muffin mix. It makes a very nice dense cake that no one would guess is gluten-free! I feel most oils are a more nutritious alternative to dairy-free margine, so I always use a different oil (walnut, almond, grapeseed, etc) and they all turn out delicious. I also substitute different sweeteners for the sugar such as maple syrup, honey, yacon syrup, date sugar, and coconut sugar and have been consistently very pleased. The bag also offers variations to make: pineapple upside-down cake, coconut cake, orange cake, lemon cake, ginger spice cake (one of my favorites!), marble cake, pumpkin cake, carrot cake, zucchini cake, banana cake, applesauce cake, snicker doodles, mexican wedding cookies, thumbprint cookies and pie crust.
