(More customer reviews)This is my favorite cake and muffin mix. It makes a very nice dense cake that no one would guess is gluten-free! I feel most oils are a more nutritious alternative to dairy-free margine, so I always use a different oil (walnut, almond, grapeseed, etc) and they all turn out delicious. I also substitute different sweeteners for the sugar such as maple syrup, honey, yacon syrup, date sugar, and coconut sugar and have been consistently very pleased. The bag also offers variations to make: pineapple upside-down cake, coconut cake, orange cake, lemon cake, ginger spice cake (one of my favorites!), marble cake, pumpkin cake, carrot cake, zucchini cake, banana cake, applesauce cake, snicker doodles, mexican wedding cookies, thumbprint cookies and pie crust. Create-Your-Own Cake & Cookie Mix-NEW - Net Wt. 19 oz (538 G) - UPC 833330001146 - MIX IS NOT PRESWEETENED.
Description: this mix is not presweetened. Vanilla flavored mix. . Makes wonderful cakes, cookies and dough.
Directions: just add3/4 cup Dairy Free Magarine,1 1/4 cups sweetner and 1 1/4 cups Water. Mix until smooth. Bake and enjoy!
All NATURAL INGREDIENTS
BROWN RICE FLOUR, WHITE RICE FLOUR, VANILLA BEAN POWDER (vanilla beans, corn based dextrose), SEA SALT, XANTHAN GUM, NON-ALUMINUM BAKING POWDER (sodium acid pyrophosphate, bicarbonate of soda, corn starch (from non GMO corn), calcium acid phosphate), BAKING SODA.
Allergen Alert: contains corn.
Produced in a dedicated allergen free facility.
UPDATE: I just learned there is a very good vegetable shortening made by Spectrum from Palm Oil which is very healthy oil for you when not hydrogenated. Also that Whole Foods has a version that isn't as good according to my source. Just wanted to make those options available to readers.

The Cravings Place All Purpose Pancake & Waffle Mix, 23-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) Review

(More customer reviews)This mix makes wonderful crispy on the outside tender on the inside waffles however they were so sweet that by the time you put syrup or any other topping on it they get so sickeningly sweet you can hardly eat them. Its like they put in too much vanilla or something. To me the whole point of a waffle or pancake is that they be more of a plain base that compliments whatever toppings you choose to put on them. They shouldn't compete with the flavor of the toppings. With these being so sweet already it was just way too much. Seriously, you could just butter and eat them with no additional topping. Will continue to look for something more akin to original waffles and pancakes.

I add a little more water than what is on the mix and it bakes up fluffier. Now that my son also has to go dairy and egg free, this mix is still perfect! Thank you!

(More customer reviews)Just so you know, there are no peanuts in this mix. You have the option to add any nut butter of your choice. I'd been wanting "peanut butter" cookies for years since our allergies were diagnosed, but peanuts are not an option for us. I made this mix using Sunbutter Natural Sunflower Seed Spread, 16-Ounce Plastic Jars (Pack of 6) and it was EXACTLY like the peanut butter cookies my mom used to make (you know, the ones rolled in sugar and pressed with a fork). I'm planning to make some more with dairy free chocolate- like the hershey's kiss ones- for Christmas. The batch made with one bag was huge. About double the amount you usually get from a cookie mix. Anyway, I highly recommend this mix. As a matter of fact, I haven't tried anything from the Cravings Place that didn't taste like the original gluten version I remember so go ahead and try whatever sounds good. You won't be disappointed!
