Flying Fish Roe 4 oz - Tobiko Caviar Black Sushi Grade Review

This product tastes good, but you can buy it for $9 at Wegman's. If you get it from this place, you pay $26 (TWENTY SIX!) for shipping and handling. Why? All I found was a freezer pack! What a ripoff. When I asked about the high shipping, the response was fairly snotty. When we received the product, we found it labeled "specially selected for Wegman's." Sure enough, next time we went, there it was. In addition, two of the containers had an expiration in two weeks! All in all, the shipping costs make this a big ripoff. Get it at Wegman's.

This product was arrived very quickly and was packed with care. My wife and I loved the quality of the Salmon Roe. We have enjoyed Salmon Roe at our local Sushi Restaurant and this was every bit as good.

This roe comes from the most prized "chum" salmon. Its giant natural-colored succulent eggs are surprisingly mild. Best served with sour cream or cream cheese.

I was very happy with both the caviar and the company. The shipment arrived next day well packaged and with wonderfully reusable freezer packs. The caviar was fresh and extremely tasty. I would certainly order from them again.

Black Lumpfish Caviar (3.5 ounce) Review

I had ordered this for Christmas presents. It was never rec'd but I'd ordered so much I had missed not receiving it. I let the vendor know, and in not the best way--thanks to poor Amazon UI, I could leave a review, but not easily just click to let the vendor know of the problem. (Are you listening Amazon???).
Anyway, we did not expect to hear anything about it. Order was two months old. But I rec'd an email from igourmet who wanted to rectify the situation. Of course, they asked me if 'we wanted to receive the caviar we had ordered--which is kind of like asking if someone wants to have an IQ of 10 or more--but they *did* go to the trouble of trying to fix the problem. They offered to send the product we hadn't rec'd.
Which cost them a pretty penny I'm sure, since it is only a couple of ounces and had to be shipped w/some kind of cold.
Unfortunately, they went through all this trouble (and this is the point, right?), but the caviar showed up in this over-large box, with a melted something--not enough to last the number of days it was shipped.
I'm sure if you order a number of items, that igourmet will take care of you. And they will try to rectify the situation if you do not receive something. Unfortunately, they need to learn to pack better, for small orders.
I give them 4 stars, because they *want* to make customers happy. Actually they get 6 stars for this (it's all too rare in this world). But I had to subtract something because there's no way we're eating this caviar. When the package showed up w/no refrigeration, and the jar was warm, we just tossed it. I don't want to bother these people again. I've ordered other stuff from igourmet and they need better shipping policies, not better people.
Just make sure you tell them it needs to show up *cold*. Perhaps they'll start using dry ice, like Allen Brothers and other good and experienced shippers. They definitely have the customer service right.

Lumpfish caviar is an excellent alternative to pricier Caspian Sea varieties. This specialty caviar is a perfect addition to a gourmet meal; used as a substitute in recipes calling for the more traditional roes.It also makes a beautiful garnish, especially alongside sushi. Originally from Iceland, ours is from neighboring Sweden.
